JASPER — A Saturday evening report of a fight in progress in a front yard in the 500 block of Sixth Street resulted in a man’s arrest on multiple preliminary charges.
Two men were on the ground involved in a physical altercation when the Jasper Police Department responded at 6:13 p.m.
An investigation determined ongoing issues between neighbors boiled over into a physical altercation with Michael A. Eckert, 69, 503 W. Sixth St., Jasper, allegedly the aggressor, according to police.
Eckert was alleged to have resisted being handcuffed when separated from the other male. Police also alleged he had used his arm on the other male’s neck during the altercation.
After being transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center for treatment, Eckert was booked into the Dubois County Security Center on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony strangulation and criminal confinement and misdemeanor battery resulting in injury, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.
Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted.
