Forum announced on activism, leadership

JASPER — One-Dubois County invites the public to join in a community forum on activism and leadership at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Jasper Train Depot.

The presentation by Genea Garrett will guide the overwhelmed with practical steps on how to really effect change in the community, nation and world.

Garrett graduated from the University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, in 2004 with a double major in geology and English. She taught science workshops and led planetarium shows at the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science for six years before joining the staff of Wesselman Woods Nature Center as a teaching naturalist in 2011. She is currently the director of environmental education at Wesselman Woods.

Garrett has two children, ages 9 and 6, and is a scout leader with Navigators USA, a co-ed inclusive scouting program with a focus on outdoor adventure and social justice. She is the local group leader for Moms Demand Action for GunSense in America and is also active with the League of Women Voters of Southwestern Indiana, the Sierra Club and the PTA at Harper Elementary School.
