The Forest Park Band Boosters held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021. President Brandon Berg welcomed boosters. A motion was made to approve the minutes of the last meeting by Bret Eckert and seconded by Rachel Berg. Michelle Kieper gave the treasurer’s report.
Donna Weyer reported the next can and paper drive will be Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. A new co-chair is needed; anyone interested can contact one of the officers.
Erin Sprinkle reported that all of the raffle tickets and money should be turned in. Parents can send all raffle tickets, sold and unsold, to school with their child to put in the collection box in Mr. Obermeyer’s office.
Bret Eckert reported the flea market was very successful this year.
Brandon Berg reported the mattress sale was very successful this year.
Michelle Kieper reported that sales are up and to remind all parents to check the concession schedule for football. If you are unable to work your scheduled time you need to find your own replacement.
Brandon Berg reported that the Christkindlmarkt committee is in need of a new co-chair and the current committee was discussing what to serve this year since there will be food trucks available.
Rachel Berg reported the flag committee is working on plumes for the hats and waiting for the flags to come in.
Carol Lichtey reported that the food committee will need help serving during the competitions and bus parents are needed to ride the bus to competitions.
Michele Hedinger reported that next year someone will need to be in charge of taking photos during competitions and post on the band booster Facebook page. Also a new chairman for the wall decorating committee will need to be found.
Jenelle Oser reported that the pink gloves for the band and the temporary guard uniforms are in.
Mr. Obermeyer reported that he feels good about the progress of the marching show this year. Friday night will be a test run with the band wearing their uniforms at the football game. Mr. Obermeyer presented three options about staying overnight this year at BOA. The band boosters voted to not stay overnight due to COVID restrictions/contract tracing protocol.
Bret Eckert presented the band trip information that is scheduled to leave Forest Park the evening of April 5 and return to Forest Park on April 10. The preliminary itinerary is to travel and tour Philadelphia and Hershey Pennsylvania. If any parent would like to attend the band trip they must have a secure volunteer form filled out, which is found on the school website, and the final payment is due by the beginning of February. If you are interested in chaperoning the trip contact Bret Eckert.
Carol Lichtey made a motion to adjourn the meeting Duane Lorey seconded the motion.
The next band booster meeting will be on Monday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in the chorus room.
