JASPER — Police ticketed a motorist after a car and a pickup truck collided Friday afternoon at 15th and Mill streets.
Shaina M. Dant, 18, of 4680 Picadilly Circle, was northbound on Mill Street in a 1997 Mercury Sable at the time of the 5:35 p.m. mishap, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Dant had stopped at 15th Street and was proceeding through the intersection when the rear passenger door and fender of her Mercury was struck by the front of a westbound 2005 Dodge Ram driven by 27-year-old Laura M. Roettger, of 1274 Todd Lane, according to police.
Police said Dant had stopped at the intersection first and Roettger said her children inside her vehicle diverted her attention so that she did not see Dant’s car in time to avoid the collision.
Damage was estimated at $1,500 to each of the vehicles.
Police cited Roettger for failure to yield the right of way.
