JASPER — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department arrested 26-year-old Jessica L. Wright, of 32 Bergs Lane, Birdseye, at 1:04 a.m. today and charged her with drunken driving (blood alcohol content .09 percent).
Wright was arrested after a deputy allegedly observed her failing to use a turn signal and failing to stop at at a stop sign at the intersection of the Second and Clay streets. The deputy stopped the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix she was driving in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Main Street.
Authorities booked Wright into the Dubois County Security Center at 2 a.m.
JASPER — No tickets were issued after two SUVs collided Friday afternoon at U.S. 231 and Division Road in an accident that caused about $9,000 in damage.
Louis D. Adams, 73, of Henderson, Ky., was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer at the time of the 3:16 p.m. mishap, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Adams told police a vehicle in front of him stopped abruptly and he had to swerve his vehicle to the right to avoid hitting it. Adams’ Trailblazer was then struck by a trailing 2004 Buick Rendezvous driven by 20-year-old Caleb L. Burke, also of Henderson, Ky.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to Burke’s Buick and $4,000 to Adams’ Chevrolet.
JASPER — A county sheriff’s department deputy reports having picked up a stray dog along County Road 125E, north of County Road 300N in the Kellerville area northeast of Jasper.
The medium-size, mixed breed dog is black, brown and white and seems friendly.
