BRETZVILLE — Two vehicles struck a deer Monday morning south of the Bretzville Junction but only one driver reported the accident.
Jessica D. Greulich, 18, of 323 E. 13th St., Ferdinand, was southbound on State Road 162 in a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt at the time of the 5:55 a.m. incident near County Road 700S, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Police said a separate, northbound vehicle struck a deer and the injured animal entered Greulich’s lane of travel. The Chevrolet’s collision with the animal damaged its radiator and front bumper cover, according to a deputy.
Authorities said the northbound driver stopped to check on Greulich, removed the deer from the roadway and then left the scene. He has yet to report his accident.
Damage to the Cobalt was estimated to have exceeded $2,500. Greulich’s family towed the vehicle, according to police.
