HAYSVILLE — A Martin County man escaped injury in a rollover accident Friday morning west of Haysville.
Joshua E. Fegan, 27, of Loogootee was westbound on Haysville Road West in a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck when the 6:47 a.m. accident occurred just outside of Haysville, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy said Fegan crested a hill covered with ice and lost control of the Ranger. The truck struck an embankment and stopped on its top on the county road.
The crash totaled the Ranger and cleanup at the scene closed the roadway for 20 minutes.
A Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted.
JASPER — Total damage reached $8,000 in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction accident late Friday morning at 36th and Newton streets.
Philip Kreilein, 54, of 283 W. Haysville Road, was southbound on Newton Street in a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer at the time of the 11:14 a.m. mishap, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Police said Kreilein stopped for the 36th Street traffic signal and, when he did, his SUV was rear-ended by a 2008 Dodge Nitro driven by 46-year-old Stephani Lane, of 324 W. Fifth St.
The impact then sent Kreilein’s Mercury into the rear of a 2003 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by 32-year-old Matthew Roach of French Lick.
Officers said Kreilein’s SUV, which sustained about $5,000 in damage, was towed from the scene by a Ruxer Ford wrecker. Damage was estimated at $1,500 each to Lane’s Dodge and Roach’s Ford.
Officers cited Lane for speed too fast to avoid a collision.
FERDINAND — A county sheriff’s deputy estimated the total damage to be in excess of $2,500 in a Monday night collision between a vehicle and a mailbox along a county road north of Ferdinand.
Conner D. Bolte, 17, of 8700 S. Club Road, was eastbound in the 2200 block of County Road 825S in a 2012 Toyota when the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a mailbox owned by Charlie Braunecker, 2255 E. 825S, according to a deputy.
