Fitness Granted

Andrea Brown, a former Holland Elementary teacher and current HEROES (Healthy, Energetic, Ready, Outstanding, Enthusiastic Schools) coordinator, said the school received a HEROES grant from the Welborn Baptist Foundation as a health initiative for the schools and the community. The fitness activity took place before the festival with the idea of bringing more people out for the event.

Jacob Tempel of Johnsburg, 9, played a game of ring toss during Holland Elementary's annual Fall Festival on Saturday in Holland. Lisa Montgomery of Holland, a co-organizer and Parent Teacher Organization treasurer, said the PTO-organized event usually raises close to $8,000 to help cover various expenses at the school.
