Firefighters respond to Walmart lot-sweeper problem

JASPER — Units of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department responded early Wednesday when a sweeper truck failed at the Walmart Supercenter lot.

There was no fire associated with the 2:55 a.m. run, according to Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang. Instead, he added, a Nitehawk sweeper paired to an Isuzu chassis developed an electrical problem that found its operator unplugging an electrical harness.

Damage was limited to a melted electrical connector.

Three trucks and 18 firefighters were on the scene 20 minutes
