Firefighters respond to Jasper grass fireJanuary 10, 2020
From Local Sources
JASPER — Units of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department responded Thursday afternoon when a backyard fire pit fire spread to surrounding dead grass.
The 5:20 p.m. callout sent firefighters to Keith A. Luebbehusen’s property at 710 E. 15th St.
Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang said neighbors with shovels and rakes were knocking down the fire when the department arrived to wet down the scene.
A 30-by-30 area burned and the fire melted some vinyl siding on the garage, Hochgesang said.
One truck and 29 firefighters were on the scene 15 minutes.
