Firefighters respond to Ferdinand apartment alarm

From Local Sources

FERDINAND — Units of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department responded to an alarm activation Sunday night at a west side apartment complex.

There was no fire associated with the 8:01 p.m. call to apartments at 624 W. Ninth St., according to Fire Chief John Hoppenjans. Instead, he added, the department learned the alarm actually involved an assisted-living pull-cord alarm that had accidentally been activated in an apartment.

Four trucks and 19 firefighters were on the scene 20 minutes.
