Firefighters head to unattended outdoor fire

DUBOIS — Units of the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department responded Friday afternoon to a woods fire south of Dubois.

Department spokesman Zach Eichmiller said the 3:17 p.m. run involved an unattended controlled burn at Jasper-Dubois Road and Steinbottom Road.

A 20-by-20 area of leaves was burned in a wooded area, according to Eichmiller.

Two trucks responded but the first firefighters on the scene said only one truck need continue. Seven firefighters had the small fire out within 10 minutes.
