FERDINAND — Units of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department were called twice to a Ferdinand hotel during the weekend.
The first call to the Comfort Inn, 123 Scenic Hills Court, involved a general fire alarm at 2:40 p.m., according to Fire Chief John Hoppenjans.
Firefighters arrived and determined a guest had been vaping in a second floor room, according to the chief.
The department cleaned the detector, ventilated the room and successfully reset the system.
Three trucks and 13 firefighters were on the scene 15 minutes.
Hoppenjans issued a reminder to the public that it is not OK to vape inside of any building.
Then, at 10:53 p.m. Sunday, the department was advised of another general fire alarm at the hotel.
Units arrived to find a detector in a third floor stairwell had activated.
Firefighters cleaned that detector and successfully reset the system.
Four trucks and 11 firefighters were on the scene 15 minutes.
The Ferdinand Police Department assisted.
