FERDINAND — A machine issue sent members of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department to MasterBrand Cabinets’ 624 W. Third St. location Monday.
Fire Chief John Hoppenjans said the 10:22 p.m. call involved a machine that used a conveyor belt to bring cabinet fronts under ultraviolet light for drying. Some cabinet fronts jammed and were ignited, Hoppenjans added.
Maintenance staff extinguished the fire prior to the department arriving. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no hot spots or other issues.
Five trucks and 18 firefighters were on the scene 25 minutes.
The Ferdinand Police Department assisted.
