Firefighters called to I-64 grass fire

FERDINAND — Units of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department responded to the report of a grass fire along I-64 Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters responding to the 3:54 p.m. callout found a 30-by-30 area burning at the 67-mile marker.

Three trucks and 10 firefighters were on the scene 20 minutes extinguishing the fire, according to Fire Chief John Hoppenjans.
