FERDINAND — Units of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department were called to an alarm activation Friday at the Comfort Inn, 123 Scenic Hills Court.
There was no fire associated with the 5:16 a.m. callout, according to Fire Chief John Hoppenjans. Instead, he added, firefighters discovered people had been smoking in a second-floor bathroom and a room detector activated when they opened the bathroom door.
Firefighters cleaned the detector and successfully reset the system.
Two trucks and six firefighters were on the scene 20 minutes.
