FERDINAND — Units of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department responded Tuesday evening to an alarm activation at the Comfort Inn, 123 Scenic Hills Court.
There was no fire associated with the 7 p.m. callout, according to Fire Chief John Hoppenjans. Instead, he said, the alarm was traced to a first floor smoke detector that was triggered by steam from a guest showering.
Firefighters cleaned the detector and successfully reset the system.
Three trucks and 21 firefighters were on the scene 10 minutes.
The Ferdinand Police Department assisted.
