Firefighters called to Courthouse Square

From Local Sources

JASPER — A report of a possible vehicle fire sent members of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department to the Square Tuesday afternoon.

There was no fire connected with the 3:49 p.m. callout, according to Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang. Instead, he added, a parked van was found to have an oil leak that resulted in smoke but no flames.

Hochgesang said the owner was advised to not drive the vehicle from the scene because of the threat of fire.

One truck and 18 firefighters were on the scene 10 minutes.
