Firefighters, antique club set open house

ST. MEINRAD — The St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with the Early Days Antique Club, will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT Sunday, Oct. 6, at the St. Meinrad Community Center and Park.

All are invited to eat, view the trucks and antiques, visit with the members and buy last-minute raffle tickets at $5 a piece. First prize is $1,000.

Chicken and pork chop dinners will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT; hamburgers and desserts also will be sold. The open house will also feature a Stat Flight helicopter landing and a kiddie tractor pull sponsored by the Heritage Hills FFA at 11 a.m. CT. A performance by the Sweet Water Band will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT. A raffle drawing will take place at 2:30 p.m. CT.

An antique tractor show will feature Ferguson, Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson equipment. Demonstrations of lime crushing, corn shredding, shelling and grinding, silage chopping, buck sawing and sorghum pressing will take place throughout the day. A tractor parade will start at 1:30 p.m. CT with judging beginning at 2 p.m. CT. Plaques will be awarded.
