From Local Sources
DUBOIS — Fire gutted an abandoned Dubois house late Saturday night.
A passerby reported the fire at 5423 E. Sycamore St. and the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department responded at 11:24 p.m.
Department spokesman Zach Eichmiller said the abandoned home was owned by Derek Breitwieser, who also owns the adjacent Hot Spot Bar & Grill at 5416 Main St. The house was destined for demolition, Eichmiller said.
The cause of the weekend fire is undetermined but the structure was gutted and will be taken down soon, Eichmiller said.
Three trucks and 24 firefighters were on the scene almost two hours.
A Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services ambulance assisted on standby.
