HUFFMAN — Units of the St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department responded Thursday evening when a tractor caught fire in the Huffman area.
Ronnie Boehm was using a 1979 1086 International to pull logs at the time of the 6:08 p.m. CT incident off Spencer County Road 1550N, a mile west of Huffman, according to Fire Chief Tom Kloeck.
Boehm was hooking up a log when fire erupted under the tractor’s hood and inside the cab. The cause of the fire that destroyed the tractor was suspected to have possibly been an electrical short, according to Kloeck.
Five trucks and 22 firefighters were on the scene 45 minutes.
