CELESTINE — Units of the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department responded Saturday evening when a riding mower caught fire inside a shed where it had been parked.
Firefighters were called at 7:20 p.m. to the Robert and Cheryl Welp residence at 636 N. Celestine Road North.
Fire Chief Ryan Wineinger said the fire began on a riding mower that had just been used and parked in a 10-by-10 metal yard shed minutes before the fire was noticed.
The shed and its contents, including mowers and other power tools, were destroyed.
Wineinger said the property loss was covered by insurance.
Four trucks and 20 firefighters were on the scene 21 minutes.
