CRYSTAL — Fire destroyed a Case backhoe Friday morning at a farm west of Crystal.
The Dubois Volunteer Fire Department was called to a farm along County Road 750E near State Road 56 at 10:14 a.m., according to Fire Chief Steve Kalb.
The fire was likely electrical in nature, Kalb said. The backhoe had been parked for about 10 minutes when the fire was noted.
Employees at the scene used a garden hose for an initial knockdown of the flames and firefighters ensured the fire was totally out, according to Kalb.
One truck and five firefighters were on the scene 30 minutes.
