JASPER — A Wednesday afternoon report of two men fighting in a restaurant parking lot ended with an arrest.
Both parties were separated when Jasper Police Department officers who responded to the 2:54 p.m. report arrived at the Little Caesars lot at 3121 N. Newton St., according to authorities.

An investigation allegedly determined William A. Schwartz, 28, 9 Arlington Court, and another male had been in a verbal altercation that turned physical. The victim and a witness reported that, during the physical altercation, there was punching, kicking and, at one point, Schwartz allegedly put his hands on the victim’s neck and throat area.
The victim was transported by ambulance for treatment at Memorial Hospital, according to police.
Authorities booked Schwartz into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:32 p.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of attempted strangulation and preliminary misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted.
