From Local Sources
JASPER — A Tuesday night 911 call about a fight in the Picadilly Circle area resulted in a man’s arrest.
Jasper Police Department officers answering the 10 p.m. call arrived to find Justin M. Cavins, 29, 4520 Picadilly Circle, allegedly attempting to flee.
After investigating, police alleged Cavins battered and strangled another male, took that victim’s cellphone and refused to return it and drove a 2002 Saturn while impaired.
Police said Cavins’ blood alcohol content tested .168% on a certified test at the Jasper Police Station.
Authorities booked Cavins into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:15 a.m. today on preliminary charges that included Level 6 felony strangulation and misdemeanor operating while intoxicated, theft and battery.
