FERDINAND — A defective lightning arrestor led to a short power outage Monday afternoon in Ferdinand.

The failed lightning arrestor caused a fuse to blow at a step-down transformer at the Fifth Street substation, according to Ferdinand Municipal Utilities’ Dean Gogel. The outage around 2 p.m. affected customers in the center of Ferdinand but was repaired within a half hour.
