Ferdinand police make impaired driving arrest

FERDINAND — A Sunday night report of erratic driving resulted in an impaired driving arrest by the Ferdinand Police Department.

Police received a report of an erratic driver in a red Ford pickup truck going south on Main Street near Ninth Street at 8:14 p.m.

Ferdinand police said the driver, Leroy J. Paulin, 53, 23549 Cardinal Road, Bristow, went west on Ninth Street in a 1999 Ford F-150 and entered a mobile home park. An officer reported the truck did not stop before exiting the mobile home park on Ninth Street. Paulin also allegedly crossed the centerline and ran off the roadway, according to police.

The officer reported the smell of an alcohol beverage after a traffic stop at Ninth and Missouri streets. Paulin’s blood alcohol content allegedly tested .19 percent.

Authorities booked Paulin into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:50 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He was also cited for a pair of traffic infractions, which included a left-of-center ticket.
