JASPER — The Jasper Police Department arrested a Ferdinand man today for the alleged sexual battery of patients of Southern Hills Counseling Services, 480 Eversman Drive.
Martin R. Thomas, 54, of 1315 Carolina St., Ferdinand, who was a registered nurse employed by Southern Hills, is charged with three Class D felony counts of sexual battery and three Class D felony counts of battery.
Police received notification of a complaint received by Indiana Adult Protective Services that involved two Southern Hills patients. That complaint alleged Thomas had inappropriately touch two patients while he was working at Southern Hills Counseling Services.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, police said, it was determined that a third patient had also been inappropriately touched by Thomas.
Police allege Thomas touched three male patients in the groin area to gain sexual gratification when that contact was unwanted by the patients.
Thomas is no longer employed by Southern Hills, according to Jasper police. He was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:54 p.m.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information that could further the probe is asked to call Jasper police detective Sgt. Rick Chambers at 482-2255 or the department’s anonymous tip line: 481-COPS (2677).
