Ferdinand firefighters respond to flow alarm

FERDINAND — Members of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department responded to a water flow alarm late Sunday afternoon at Universal Package, 435 Virginia St.
There was no fire or flowing water associated with the 5:30 p.m. callout, according to Fire Chief John Hoppenjans. Instead, he added, the department chalked the run up to a faulty flow switch in a sprinkler system riser.
The building owner was to address the issue, Hoppenjans said.
Four trucks and 20 firefighters were on the scene 20 minutes.
The Ferdinand Police Department assisted.
