Ferdinand D of I Circle 284September 24, 2020
The Ferdinand D of I Circle 284 met on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Ferdinand Senior Citizen Center. An audit was done at 6 p.m. and the meeting began at 7 p.m. Regent Kathy Hoppenjans greeted all present and called the meeting to order. Opening prayer was said by Chancellor Linda Begle.
Past Regent Mary Brinkman and Chancellor Linda Begle did a ceremony for deceased members Betty Wollenmann and Shirley Stern. Opening Ode and Pledge to the Flag followed. Under Spiritual Activities Linda Begle said a prayer for those affected by COVID-19. Roll call of the officers was taken with two absent. Reading of the minutes followed and approved as read. Also the treasurers report was given by Beverly Schulthise, this was approved as read.
Kathy received several emails from State Regent Mary Seibert about the State Convention that was to be held in Batesville in October, but after much consideration due the virus, it was decided to cancel. All chapters of the D of I are encouraged to keep in contact with each other during this time. Kathy then asked for new memberships and there were none. Report by Scribe, Clara Mae Vaal, that there were articles in The Ferdinand News, The Herald and also in the church bulletins. Mary Brinkman gave a report on her audit of the charitable activities for the months of July and August. Vice Regent Mary Weyer gave a report on visiting the sick. A report on the audit done earlier was given by Auditor Shirley Demuth. She reported that all was in order. Report by financial officer Beverly Schulthise was given. Membership report was at 68 members.
Next meeting will be Monday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Ferdinand Senior Citizen Center. Masks and social distancing will be observed. Officer for the month is Rita Krampe and committee is Pat Dilger and Dorothy Lindauer. Mary Weyer read the social committee report. Kathy also reminded everyone that a rosary will be said before this meeting. Mary Brinkman reported that she has not received any information as to when bingo at the nursing home will begin again.
In unfinished business, there was discussion about the pecans. Discussion was on whether to sell again this year or not. Linda Begle said she will check with the Washington D of I Circle to see if they are ordering pecans this year. Beverly reported the profit we made last year. Shirley Demuth made a motion to pay the bills and Mary Weyer seconded the motion. Obligation to membership was recited by the members present. Closing prayer and prayer for Increase of Membership was said. Closing Ode was said.
There were no birthdays for the month of September. Attendance prize would have gone to Paulita Pund but she was not present. Door prize went to Mary Brinkman and Penny drill went to Linda Begle.
