FERDINAND — Both vehicles were estimated to have been totaled in a passenger car-versus-SUV collision Wednesday evening on Ferdinand’s north side.
Sean Conway, 38, Jasper, was northbound on State Road 162 when the 7:57 p.m. accident occurred at Industrial Park Road North, according to the Ferdinand Police Department.
Conway intended to turn west onto Industrial Park Road North, police said. He waited for a southbound semi to pass, then made his turn without noticing a southbound 2013 Ford Explorer driven by Brad Fleck, 43, Huntingburg, police said.
Fleck was not able to avoid an impact that caused an estimated $32,000 in damage to his Explorer and $3,000 in damage to the Taurus.
Conway complained of pain but was not transported for treatment.
An officer cited Conway for failing to yield the right of way.
Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, The Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department and wreckers from Berg’s Garage and Ruxer Ford assisted.
