Faulty detector draws out Ferdinand firefighters

From local sources

FERDINAND — Units of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department responded to an alarm activation Thursday night at a Ferdinand hotel.

There was no fire associated with the 9:55 p.m. callout to the Comfort Inn, 123 Scenic Hills Court, according to Fire Chief John Hoppenjans. Instead, he added, firefighters determined the system triggered when a detector in the breakfast area malfunctioned.

Firefighters cleaned the smoke detector head and successfully reset the system.

Two trucks and 12 firefighters were on the scene 10 minutes.
