From Local Sources
FERDINAND — A Perry County motorist escaped injury Saturday afternoon in an accident that occurred as he tried to pass a farm tractor.
Timothy J. Taylor, 32, Bristow, was northbound on County Road 285E in a 2004 Mazda MVP when the 3:59 p.m. mishap occurred 400 feet south of County Road 1160S, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Taylor was following a farm tractor that was pulling an implement when he attempted a pass in a no-passing zone, according to the sheriff’s department. At the same time, a deputy said, the tractor, operated by someone unaware there was a vehicle attempting an illegal pass, began to exit the roadway to enter a farm access road.
Taylor managed to avoid hitting the tractor, but his Mazda ran off the west side of the roadway, stopping in a ditch.
Damage was estimated at possibly less than $1,000, but a Uebelhor & Sons wrecker was called to the scene to assist.
The deputy cited Taylor for improper passing.
