Everyone's Favorite Senior

For the 80th year, members of the Jasper American Legion Post 147 visited residents at local nursing homes with Santa to deliver Christmas cheer and goodies. On Saturday morning, Santa and his helpers visited residents at Northwood Retirement Community and then continued on to Brookside Village Senior Living Community and Cathedral Health Care Center. Northwood resident Anna Gosman greeted Santa as he made his rounds. “Everybody loves Santa,” Gosman said. “He must be awfully old by now cause he was around when I was a little girl.”

Santa greeted resident Bernice Bullock as he made his rounds. "I've been very good this year Santa," Bullock said.

Santa teased residents Lucille Garland, left, and Mary Schnaus about whether they were good or bad while they played a card game.

Santa handed resident Anna Mehringer a goodie bag and a solar powered drumming bear after she assured him that she had been good during the year.
