Event designed to honor MLK Jr.January 6, 2020
ONE-DC and Trinity United Church of Christ, 310 W. Eighth St., Jasper, will host an evening honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at the church.
The public is invited to participate in all of any portion of the evening as schedules permit.
The schedule is:
5:30 p.m.: Community art project. Participants will contribute their visions of peace, love and action in their community to the piece.
6-7 p.m.: A free meal will be offered, including soups, breads and desserts.
7-8 p.m.: A service in the sanctuary dedicated to the work and life of Dr. King. The service will feature community members reading works by Dr. King as well as inspirational music selections by The Celebration Singers.
Donations will be collected for the Community Food Bank. Participants are asked to bring a canned good or pantry item.
