HAYSVILLE — A driver said an evasive maneuver he was forced to make Tuesday morning was the reason his SUV ran into a rip-rapped ditch at Haysville.
Brandon L. Miller, 24, Washington, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2005 Hyundai Tucson when the 6:10 a.m. mishap occurred at Seitz Street.
Miller said a passing northbound vehicle crossed the centerline and he reacted by driving off the west side of the highway. The Tucson struck a rip-rapped ditch embankment and stopped.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department said a Uebelhor & Sons wrecker towed the SUV as a precaution because of a fluid leak after the accident.
Damage to the Hyundai was estimated at less than $1,000.
