HAYSVILLE — A motorist’s evasive action led to a mishap early Wednesday east of Haysville.
Richard E. Evans, 55, Dubois, was eastbound on State Road 56 in a 2004 Mazda 3 when the 12:02 a.m. accident occurred 300 feet west of County Road 150E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Evans told a deputy he swerved to avoid a deer that came onto the roadway. When he did, according to the sheriff’s department, his vehicle crossed the centerline, left the north side of the highway and struck a small ditch and a small tree.
The Mazda stopped facing east.
Damage was estimated at less than $1,000 and no wrecker was needed.
