Eugene R. “Gene” Lampert, 71, of Jasper, passed away at 12:35 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Gene was born in Jasper on April 8, 1948, to William and Philomena (Kapp) Lampert. He married Lucinda “Cindy” Werner on May 9, 1976, in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.
He was a lifelong farmer in the Jasper area.
Gene was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and their Holy Name Society.
He was an avid nature lover, fisherman, enjoyed playing cards, was a devout Notre Dame and Cleveland Indian’s fan, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Cindy Lampert of Jasper; one son, Jake Lampert (Brooke), Ireland; one daughter, Jenna Merkel (Ethan), Jasper; four grandchildren, Reece, Andyn and Cole Lampert, and Cecilia Merkel, with a Merkel grandson soon on the way; two sisters, Virginia Vaal (Art), and Rosie Werner (Ed), both of Jasper; three brothers, Ambrose Lampert (Nancy), Roman Lampert (Carol) and Linus Lampert (Judy), all of Jasper; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Vaal of Carmel.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Alberta Voegerl and Sally Vaal; and one brother Norbert Lampert.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene “Gene” Lampert will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Holy Family Parish will pray the rosary at 2:45 p.m.
