Essay contest open to fourth graders

The Association of Indiana Counties presents an essay contest for fourth-grade students across Indiana. The essay focus is “Ensuring the Administration of the Indiana Elections Process.”

The essays should focus on the election process in the county. Students should interview the county clerk of the Circuit Court, election administrators or election poll workers to learn how a complicated election process is administered fairly and efficiently.

Essays should be no longer than one page, typed or handwritten. Essays will be judged according to how well students discuss the county’s role in the election process. Include parents’ names, phone number and email (for notification of winners), and teacher’s name, school and email.

All entries should be postmarked by April 1 and mailed to Molly Smith, Association of Indiana Counties, 101 W. Ohio St., Suite 1575, Indianapolis IN 46204.

For further information, contact Molly Smith at or 317-684-3710.
