JASPER — An off-duty police officer’s report of a possibly intoxicated driver north of Jasper resulted in an impaired driving arrest Monday afternoon.
The report at 1:37 p.m. came from an off-duty officer following a vehicle that had crossed the centerline and, at one point, went into a ditch north of the city.
A Department of Natural Resources conservation officer in the area contacted the 2017 Jeep Compass driven by Rachel J. Cartwright, 34, Washington, and conducted a traffic stop on Wilhelm Strasse in Jasper.
Authorities report Cartwright failed field sobriety testing and had a blood alcohol content that tested .189% at the Jasper Police Station.
Cartwright was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:14 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
The Jasper Police Department assisted.
