English man jailed on failure-to-appear warrant

JASPER — Authorities jailed a Crawford County man Friday on a failure-to-appear warrant related to a case involving a Level 6 felony count of failing to return to lawful detention.

Josey W. Shelton, 21, English, was sentenced to supervised probation in March 2018, in relation to the lawful detention case but authorities filed to revoke that probation in February. In April, an agreement was reached that would put Shelton back on probation but, authorities allege, he failed to uphold the conditions of that agreement.

When Shelton failed to appear in Dubois Circuit Court for a scheduled June 4 revocation hearing, the court issued the warrant that sent Shelton into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:56 p.m. Friday.
