From Local Sources
BRETZVILLE — A fire that started in a pickup truck’s engine compartment rendered it a total loss Thursday evening at the Bretzville Junction.
Units of the St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department were called to the fire scene along State Road 162 just north of State Road 64 at 6:08 p.m.
Fire Chief Scott Uebelhor said the fire under the hood of a Ford Ranger driven by Larry Mundy of Ferdinand likely started because of a bird’s nest that was inside the engine compartment.
Two trucks and 15 firefighters were on the scene 25 minutes.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and a JAWS wrecker from Santa Claus assisted.
