From Local Sources

JASPER — The alleged theft of energy shots from a Jasper convenience store brought about an arrest Monday afternoon.

The Jasper Police Department responded to the Huck’s Food & Fuel at 230 Third Ave. at 1:37 p.m. after the business called to report a man had stolen three Sleep Walker energy shots.

Police say an investigation that included a review of video surveillance revealed Casey P. Cole, 40, 257 Brucke Strasse, Jasper, had paid for some items but left the store without paying for the energy shots valued at $18.18.

Authorities booked Cole into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:21 p.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of theft. The theft charge was elevated to a felony because of a prior conviction for the offense.
