Endurance relay set for ParklandsJune 17, 2019
JASPER — DC Multisport announces a new event, “Parklands 6-Hour Endurance Relay.” The team relay will take place along the scenic paved trails of Jasper’s newly-developed Parklands on Saturday, July 27. After the event, Schnitz Pub & Brewery will open early and have live entertainment.
This event is comprised of teams raising to a challenge, which is to share the responsibility amongst a team to endure six hours of continuous running and to beat the number of loops completed by the other teams. This six-hour endurance event can be broken down between two team members, four members or six members.
The course is a 1.6 mile, hilly loop. Each runner can run as many loops at a time based upon that team’s strategy. Running teams can set up their base camp within the designated areas in the northwest parking area of Klubhaus 61, very close to where teams can transition to a new runner. Teams are encouraged to bring food and beverages that they would wish to have with them.
Once the 6-hour limit is reached, no runners may enter the course, and time keeping will begin for any runner still on the course. The teams that complete the most loops in the lowest amount of time in each category will receive an award. The categories are top male, team of two; top female, team of two; top co-ed, team of two; top male, team of four; top female, team of four; top co-ed, team of four; top male, team of six; top female team of six; and top co-ed, team of six.
Beginning at noon, Schnitz Brewery & Pub will be open for any teams that would like to cheer on their last remaining running members with a brew in their hand. Their full menu and bar also will be available featuring appetizers, specialty pizzas, salads, burgers and more.
After the six hours and once all teams have finished their last loop, the award ceremony will be taking place in the outdoor seating area of the Schnitz Brewery & Pub. The musical duo, 2 Cuz’nz Review will entertain.
