Eckert is Optimist Youth of the Month

Jordan Eckert, 17, son of Jeff and Michelle Eckert, is the October Youth of the Month for the Huntingburg Optimist.

While in high school, Eckert has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, student council, Key Club, Spirt Club and FFA. He also has been a freshman mentor and natural helper. He is vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

As a result of his academic excellence, he was inducted into the National Honor Society and has received the corporation’s academic excellence award each year of high school. He is on track to earn Indiana’s Academic Honors diploma.

Eckert has been a member of the golf team and was a representative on homecoming for his class as a sophomore and senior. In addition, he was the recipient of the Indiana High School’s Athletic Association Sportsmanship pin.

Outside of school, Eckert is a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Huntingburg, where he participates in religious education classes. He has volunteered his time helping to raise funds for the Riley Children’s Hospital and has helped with community trash and debris pick up.

After graduation, he plans to attend college in Indiana but has not determined a field of study.
