DUBOIS — A Dubois man was arrested Sunday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and battery on a law enforcement official.
Ryan M. Singleton, 31, showed signs of impairment at the scene of an accident in Dubois that resulted in destruction of a road sign, a stop sign and two utility poles. The truck came to rest under the second utility pole that it struck.
Singleton was taken to the Jasper Police Department for a certified chemical test and became verbally abusive, refusing to take the test. Singleton headbutted a conservation officer in the face.
After medical clearance at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, Singleton was booked into the Dubois County Jail. He is being charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI endangerment, OWI refusal and battery on a law enforcement officer.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, Dubois Volunteer Fire Department, Jasper Police Department, Sternberg’s Wrecker Service and Indiana conservation officers all responded to the scene.
