DUBOIS — The Dubois Branch Library has activities scheduled for June.
Summer Learning: A Universe of Stories will be offered all this month. Register online through Beanstack at http://www.jdcpl.us or at the library. Read and enter in for great prizes in June and July. Pick up a complete program booklet at the library.
A big week-long book sale will be held May 28 to June 1 during library hours. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Dubois Library
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Camp registration ends June 3. This free camp is for students entering grades five through 12. Dubois’ STEM Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 8, through Tuesday, July 9.
A Geri-Fit class will be held from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Wednesdays, June 5, 12, 19 and 26. The class uses strength training for older adults. Preregister for each class.
Ageless chair yoga will be offered from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Fridays, June 7, 14, 21 and 28. A yoga class will be offered for those who cannot get on the floor. Preregister for each class.
Technology help will be provided from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays, June 7, 21 and 28. Help will be available with any wireless devices.
Family crafts are planned for 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 2:45 p.m. Fridays. Preregistration is required.
Wednesday, June 5: Moon Phases Wall Mobile.
Wednesday, June 12, and Friday, June 14: Hula Hoop Photo Craft.
Wednesday, June 19 and Friday, June 21: Stained Glass Windows.
Wednesday, June 26, and Friday, June 28: Summer Nail and String Art.
A Universe of Programs will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, in the Dubois Middle School Multipurpose Room. Dates and programs are June 6, Stuntology with Sam Bartlett; June 13, Elsenpeter Marionettes; June 20, Animal Tales; and June 27, Professor Steve.
NASA Live Streaming programs will be held at 2 p.m. Thursdays in the library’s community room. “Explore Humans in Space” will be June 13 and “Explore Rockets and Spacecraft” will be June 27. Classes are in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing.
Family and Friends Movie Night will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 4. “Lost in Space” is the featured movie. Take a trip down memory lane by watching the original first television show of “Lost in Space” and compare it to the first episode of the Netflix remake of the series. Refreshments will be provided.
Beginning Dulcimer classes with Randy Tuell will start at 4 p.m. Thursdays June 6, 13 and 20. This three-day class will get participants up and playing the mountain dulcimer in no time. Preregistration is required.
A stuffed alien workshop will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8. The Friends of the Dubois Library is offering the chance for kids to make their own stuffed alien to take home. The cost is $18 and preregistration is required by May 24. The class is limited to 20 participants.
Teens and Tweens craft time: Do-it-Yourself Honeycomb Shelf is scheduled at 4:15 p.m. Monday, June 10. Create a one-of-a-kind shelf to hang in rooms. Preregistration is required.
Adult Craft: Flag Canvas Painting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 10. An instructor will lead the class in painting an American flag on canvas. Preregistration is required.
How to Use the Genealogy Room to Research Family Roots will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 10. A staff member will be on hand to help people learn how to get started on their family. Preregistration is required.
Howl at the Moon with Tom Sieling will be featured at 6 p.m. Monday, June 17. Bring the kids on this full-moon night and sing along with Sieling as he plays fun, kid-friendly songs on guitar, banjo, harmonica and more.
The River City String Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22. Enjoy traditional, bluegrassy and country music with this talented group of southern Indiana musicians.
The End-of-the-Month Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 24. Discussion will be held on “One Thousand White Women” by Jim Fergus. Stop by the front desk to pick up a copy.
