DUBOIS — The Dubois Branch Library has activities scheduled for August.
The library will be closed on the morning of Friday, Aug. 9, because of staff development day. The library will open at 1:30 p.m.
Beginning Line Dancing for Adults will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays August 1, 8, 15 and 22. Join line-dancing teachers Cookie and Roger Taylor for these sessions and exercise. Preregister for each class.
A Geri-Fit class will be held from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28. Gentle chair and standing exercise with light weights will be featured for seniors. Participants are to bring their own 2-pound weights, a stretch band and water. Preregister for each class.
Chair Yoga will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Fridays, Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
Ageless chair yoga will be offered from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Fridays, Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, A yoga class will be offered for those who cannot get on the floor. Preregister for each class.
Technology help will be provided from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays, Aug. 2, 16, 23 and 30. Help will be available with any wireless devices.
The first Saturday book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. Books for all ages are available.
Adult Craft: Seaside Paint Stick Hanging will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5. Preregistration is required.
Genealogy help will be provided at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, in the Genealogy Room.
Friends of the Dubois Branch Library will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12. Non-members also are welcome to attend.
Myths and Facts: The Reality of Immigration in Indiana and Beyond will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. Join Dr. Emily Wornell from Ball State University for this insightful look at how immigration effects everyone’s lives and communities in rural Indiana and what people should consider in the future. Pre-registration is required. The program is sponsored by Indiana Humanities.
Free blood pressure checks will be given from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16. Faith-community nurses will administer the blood pressure checks.
My Big Person and Me for infants through age 6 with their caregivers will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 20 and Aug. 27. Stories and crafts will be featured. Preregistration is required.
Keurig’s Korner will meet after school until 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 20 and 27. A snack and drink will provided. Play games, do homework or just hang out.
Family Craft: Disney Pixar Abstract Canvas Painting will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, and from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Friday. Aug. 23. Preregistration is required.
The End-of-the-Month Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26. Discussion will be held on “Funny in Farsi” by Firoozeh Dumas.
Common Scams Targeting Seniors will be discussed at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. Senior citizens are invited to join Susan Bolin from the Tri-State Better Business Bureau to find out how to identify scams, how to protect personal information and how-to better safeguard assets and funds. Preregistration is required.
