Dubois County reports 18th COVID-19 case
April 27, 2020From Local Sources
The Dubois County Health Department confirms an 18th positive COVID-19 case in the county.
The department is working with the Indiana State Department of Health and local officials to ensure that contacts of the patient — who is in isolation — are identified and monitored.
“Positive cases of COVID-19 should not trigger alarm but a renewed sense of responsibility for all of us to do what we can to limit the spread of this infection to our neighbors, friends, family and co-workers,” states a Dubois County Health Department press release sent Saturday. “Working as a community, with concern for each other, we can limit the number of people who become infected by staying home, practicing social distancing and good hand hygiene.”
According to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s COVID-19 Dashboard, the Jasper hospital has submitted 312 tests. Of those, 282 were negative and five are pending. The hospital notes that a patient’s address will determine what county reports the positive case.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported Sunday 634 new cases, bringing the statewide total to 15,012. A total of 813 Hoosiers have died from the virus.
