Drugs found during book-in of Evansville man

From Local Sources

JASPER — Authorities allege a Vanderburgh County man was found to be in possession of drugs during his book-in late Wednesday night at the Dubois County Security Center.

A Jasper Police Department officer stopped a tan Buick driven by Joseph L. Coulson Jr., 24, Evansville, at 11:09 p.m. in the 3700 block of West State Road 56 because its license plate was expired.

The officer determined Coulson was wanted on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Warrick County so he was taken to the security center. While at the booking desk, authorities said, Coulson was found to be in possession of a small plastic bag that allegedly contained methamphetamine and four pills identified as a Schedule II controlled substance.

Authorities booked Coulson into the security center on preliminary charges that included a Level 5 felony count of trafficking with an inmate, a Level 6 felony count of possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.
